Add Unique Touches to a Funeral

My name is Evan, and I am a funeral director at a busy funeral home in the Midwestern United States. I have found that many loved ones want to personalize the funeral experience, but they simply don't know how. I am going to outline some ways that you can make a funeral unique to the person you are celebrating. From dramatic readings to favorite music to decorated caskets, the only limit is your imagination when it comes to planning the perfect funeral. I hope your mind will be open to the possibilities the next time you are in the unfortunate situation of having to plan a funeral.

Tips For Planning A Lovely Funeral Memorial Service

Christina Clarke

If you have been placed in charge of planning a funeral memorial for a loved one, you might find yourself feeling a little bit of pressure to make sure that it is a lovely service. Those who have never found themselves in charge of such planning may be a little lost as to where they should begin or what decisions they should make. To help ensure that you are going to have an easier time with all of this, you will want to check out the following tips:

Read The Last Will And Testament

The very first thing you are going to want to do is to find out if the deceased had a last will and testament. You might find this in their home, with their next of kin, or in a safe or safety deposit box at the bank. Upon reading their last will and testament, you can learn about their final wishes, if they had any specific requests for their funeral memorial services.

Decide When You Will Hold The Memorial

Since a memorial is generally done after the funeral and burial, it is up to you to decide when the memorial will be. Think about the people that would like to attend and how far they have to travel in order to attend. They might need to get their finances in order and save for the trip. They might need to request off a little time for work or even find someone that can babysit their small children while they travel to the memorial location. After considering all of that and more, you can decide whether you want to hold the memorial soon or in a month or longer.

Ask For A Hand

Planning and organizing a memorial service can take a lot of work and there is no reason you have to bear all of the weight of that responsibility. You can delegate some of the tasks to other family members. For example, you can have one person in charge of collecting nice photos of the deceased so they can be displayed. Someone else can handle the booking of the venue and another person can be in charge of creating and mailing all of the invitations.

With just those few tips, you should find that you will be able to put together a lovely memorial service for friends and family and have it done in a way that truly honors the life of the deceased.
