Add Unique Touches to a Funeral

My name is Evan, and I am a funeral director at a busy funeral home in the Midwestern United States. I have found that many loved ones want to personalize the funeral experience, but they simply don't know how. I am going to outline some ways that you can make a funeral unique to the person you are celebrating. From dramatic readings to favorite music to decorated caskets, the only limit is your imagination when it comes to planning the perfect funeral. I hope your mind will be open to the possibilities the next time you are in the unfortunate situation of having to plan a funeral.

3 Ways To Find The Right Funeral Home For Your Needs

Christina Clarke

When your loved one has died, you need to figure out how you are going to handle everything. It can be really confusing, and there are going to be a lot of little things that you might not ever have thought of before that you have to make sure that get handled. One thing that you can do is to find a good funeral home and get help from one of their funeral directors. So, how can you choose the right funeral home for you and your loved one?

Visit a Few

If you have the chance, take some time to check out two or three of them to see if there is anything about any of them that automatically turns you off. You can always deputize friends and family to help you with this step. Doing that will let you check out more facilities at the same time, which is helpful if you are working against a deadline. Create a question list that everyone can ask each of the funeral homes so that you ask them all the same thing. That list can include things like parking, visitation hours, family assistance in dressing the body, and any other concerns you might have.

Check Price Lists

The funeral homes should all give you a general price list when you ask for it. The list should include any packages they have, as well as the prices on individual services that you might choose from. You can compare the price lists of the funeral homes that you have and see which one has prices that will work in your budget. The final price of the funeral may be slightly more or less than what you can figure from the price list, depending on a number of things.

Religion

Some funeral homes specialize in working with particular religions. For example, Islam and certain forms of Judaism require the body to be buried as quickly as possible, and a funeral home that primarily works with that religious group will be able to help you get everything in place as quickly, easily, and sensitively as possible.

If you have just lost a loved one, you are going to have to figure out what comes next. It isn't always easy, and you need to find someone who can help you with the process. One way to do that is to find a funeral director at a funeral home who can help you get everything set up.
