Add Unique Touches to a Funeral

My name is Evan, and I am a funeral director at a busy funeral home in the Midwestern United States. I have found that many loved ones want to personalize the funeral experience, but they simply don't know how. I am going to outline some ways that you can make a funeral unique to the person you are celebrating. From dramatic readings to favorite music to decorated caskets, the only limit is your imagination when it comes to planning the perfect funeral. I hope your mind will be open to the possibilities the next time you are in the unfortunate situation of having to plan a funeral.

Tips For Preparing A Funeral Viewing Room On A Budget

Christina Clarke

If you are in charge of planning the funeral services for a deceased loved one, you will also most likely be the one in charge of preparing the viewing room where friends and family will come to pay their last respects. If you are working with a tight budget, you might not know what you can do in order to make it honorable without breaking the bank. To help with this, you are going to want to spend a few moments reviewing the following helpful tips:

Use Arrangements Of Fake Flowers

Real flowers can cost a lot of money, especially when you are looking for large arrangements to set up around the funeral home viewing room or to lay on top of the casket. To help cut costs, you can purchase fake flowers that can be just as lovely and make your own arrangements. You can then give away the arrangements when the funeral services are over, keep some of them as a reminder, or donate them. Another nice aspect of using fake flowers for the flower arrangements is that you will not have to worry about agitating anyone that has allergies to flowers.

Print Out Pictures For A Memory Board

Another nice thing to set up along the side of the back of the viewing room is a memory board. Go through any pictures you have at home and print out others that might be stored on your phone, computer, or social media. Glue or tape them to a large poster board and set that up on a table in the room. You can have one memory board or several of them. Try to get some of your favorite pictures printed and ones that show the dearly departed with their friends and family or even pictures of them participating in their favorite hobbies.

Ask For Help From Family And Friends

There might be several people that would be glad to help you prepare the viewing room if you ask. They might be able to contribute to the cost of arrangements or they can help come up with new ideas. One way to involve others and to stay on a budget is to get another poster board and have a lot of people write down a favorite memory of the deceased or a special message. This is a great way to honor the memory of your loved one, while helping others in their grieving process as well.

Talk with the funeral home director and explain that you are open to some additional suggestions for how you can make it the best funeral service possible, while staying within your budget. Contact a local funeral home for more ideas.
