My name is Evan, and I am a funeral director at a busy funeral home in the Midwestern United States. I have found that many loved ones want to personalize the funeral experience, but they simply don't know how. I am going to outline some ways that you can make a funeral unique to the person you are celebrating. From dramatic readings to favorite music to decorated caskets, the only limit is your imagination when it comes to planning the perfect funeral. Tips For Planning A Funeral

Christina Clarke

Planning a funeral is something that most people don't really think about doing, but is something that you will likely be involved in at some point in your life. Because of this, it is important that you have an idea of what to expect and that you prepare yourself as much as you possibly can. Thankfully, there are some tips that can help make the process successful for you and allow you to create a touching and memorable funeral service. Here are three tips for planning a funeral service.

Don't Be Afraid To Delegate

The task of planning a funeral by yourself is likely very overwhelming for you. There are so many aspects of a funeral service, such as ordering the casket, purchasing the gravesite, planning the viewing, choosing a location and carrying out the actual service, ordering flowers, hosting a luncheon, and the list goes on. All of these tasks can't be properly executed without some assistance. This is why it is so important that you delegate out responsibilities to family members and friends who are willing to help. By doing so, you take so much stress of of yourself, while still making sure that everything gets done well for the funeral.

Accept Donations

Another great tip for planning a funeral service is to accept the donations that people give you. For some people the only way that they can help is through donating money for the service. Funerals are expensive, and if your loved one wasn't prepared for the costs of it before they passed away, then paying for it will be entirely up to their family members. These donations can go a long way in paying for the cost of the funeral service and can allow you to afford things like, a beautiful headstone, flowers to enjoy, food for those who attend the funeral, and more.

Keep It Simple

A funeral is meant to honor the person who passed and away and in essence be a memorial of their life. Because of this, it is often wise to keep things simple and keep the focus on remembering this person. You don't need to go over the top in terms of decor, the funeral program, etc. Instead, try to think of what the person who had passed away would truly love and enjoy, and create the funeral service around this.

When planning a funeral service, remember that you shouldn't be afraid to delegate, you should accept the donations that people offer you, and keep it simple and focused on the person for whom it is for.
